Alberta Science Network's Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom program offers students the unique opportunity to meet scientists and engineers face-to-face! Volunteer engineers, scientists and technologists give curriculum-related presentations that include hands-on activities and information about traditional and emerging careers to one classroom at a time.

Our volunteers are an amazing variety of skilled individuals ranging from an optometrist to a flight instructor. One of our most dedicated volunteers and a great example to new presenters is Peter Wright - a retired chemist. He generously commits to a regular presentation schedule and receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers and students - resulting in requests for repeat visits year after year. Another dedicated volunteer is Anita Rossall, P.Eng. (see video at https://albertasciencenetwork.ca/news.html).

Classroom Chemistry is one of the topics for which ASN receives a large number of requests. Interested in joining us? ASN provides volunteer training, resource materials and support; presentation experience is not required - just your enthusiasm! If you are passionate about science see https://albertasciencenetwork.ca/involved_apply.html and find out how you can get kids excited about science!

The ACPA is working with the Alberta Science Network to take chemistry into the classrooms of Alberta. Take a little bit of time to share your excitement about chemistry with the chemists of tomorrow!
